Introduction
Having won the "Best Revolutionary Tech" award at the Crumbs Awards 2018, established a National Advisory Board to drive government policy decisions, and received nationwide interest to geographically expand our technology’s impact further, it has been a progressive year for fresh range.
Our technology and infrastructure enable short, light and fast supply chains as an alternative to the mass system. Since 2014, dozens of local food producers and suppliers have joined the fresh-range platform cutting out financially and environmentally expensive mass haulage and storage. Producers earn the majority of the retail price paid and customers eat affordable, fresher food with provenance.
Intended impact
We believe the mass food system in this country isn’t working. It’s a £200+ billion industry, yet millions of people face diet-related illness and shortened life expectancy.
Our purpose is to deliver exceptional food experiences and create happy customers, producers and team members. Our creation of short, fast, light food supply chains are helping to develop food security for generations to come.
Our unique proprietary technology and infrastructure has enabled more producers to access both B2C & B2B markets for the first time.
Substantial accomplishments to date
In 2018 we secured a listing with The University Catering Organisation (TUCO) and won our 3rd major contract to supply Bristol University – one of the biggest single in-house public sector caterer in the West of England region. We’ve continued to invest in driving operational efficiencies and technology innovation to constantly disrupt our own approach to shorter, lighter, faster supply chains.
We co-founded the National Advisory Board for Dynamic Food Procurement. This has helped ensure secure food supply chains have become a priority for the UK government: DEFRA and Crown Commercial Services have made clear their intention to procure food dynamically right across the country on a regional basis for public sector. There is no doubt that technology will be at the heart of making this happen for government and fresh-range has a right to win in this area.
Monetisation strategy
We earn our revenue via a % margin/commission charged on food spend. We operate across 4 channels:
1. Retail home delivery
2. Catering
3. Retailer supply
4. Technology & management agent
