3 February – Twickets team up with Ed Sheeran to combat ticket touts

Face value ticket reselling platform Twickets teamed up with Ed Sheeran after the singer expressed his concerns over the price fans face on secondary ticketing sites. Twickets raised £1,221,081 from 850 investors on Seedrs last year to disrupt the ticket touting industry with ethical pricing.

7 February – Perkbox open an office in Sheffield with an aim to create 100 jobs by 2018

After raising £4,353,745 from 361 Seedrs investors and leading VC firm Draper Esprit in October last year, Perkbox expanded their operations to Sheffield. Opening their new office in late January they announced plans to create as many as 100 new jobs this year.

13 February – DatePlay officially launches dating app on Valentine’s Day

The new dating app, created by UK Apprentice runner-up Vana Koutsomitis, was launched on Valentine’s Day after raising £219,570 from 359 investors in July 2016. It aims to bring a more playful option to the dating app market by working out aspects of a user’s personality through Buzzfeed-style quiz questions.

20 February – Landbay launch Property-Backed ISA

After being granted ISA Manager Status by HMRC last month, and then the release of the Innovative Finance ISA from HM Treasury in 2016, the peer-to-peer lender has launched their Property-Backed ISA. The opportunity sits alongside their Classic Account and offers investors the chance to invest across multiple buy‐to‐let mortgages with terms of up to ten years.
