Following the release of Beauhurst’s The Deal 2019 Report last week mapping equity investments in the UK, we are thrilled to announce that we’re officially the UK’s most active investor with 215 deals in 2019, surpassing every other platform.

The report highlights key figures and trends of the private equity market in the UK in 2019.

Seedrs also facilitated the UK’s highest number of deals in three out of four categories: venture, growth and established businesses.

“Seedrs takes the crown as the UK’s most active investor, having facilitated 215 investments throughout the year” – Beauhurst.

We also saw our deal numbers rise by 36%, more than double that of our closest competitor, whose deal activity rose by only 14%. Seedrs investors are demonstrating strong appetite for the UK’s fastest-growing companies.

2019 was a record-breaking year for us with 250 deals completed and over £280 million invested into campaigns on the platform – a 50% growth in investment from 2018. We helped businesses raise capital from 17 different sectors last year with significant growth in sectors like Food & Beverage and Fintech and still maintaining our industry leading 75% funding success rate.

Fintech was our most popular sector by amount raised, generating £73.8M in investment in 2019 and accounting for half of our deals. Female Founder raises experienced significant growth generating investments of £24.8M.

We’re committed to democratising the investment landscape, and diversity and inclusion (D&I) sits at the heart of what we do. Providing opportunities for everyone is a key driver of our success. Throughout 2020, we will continue to make active changes to increase D&I within our internal and external communities and support female founders as they smash glass ceilings.

After a successful 2018 and 2019, this year we will continue our journey to becoming a full-scale platform for investing in private companies.

Here’s to another record-breaking year of supporting the growth of ambitious businesses and our engaged community of investors.
