Introduction

The skincare products that women as young as 13 use were created in the 1970’s. Emotional well-being is ignored altogether; technology/data are relatively unexploited. Mental health and well-being, particularly when linked to beauty and appearance are a clear opportunity.

Plenaire is derived from the French expression for “in the open air”, celebrating a more relaxed and transparent approach to beauty. Plenaire reframes the classic coming of age skincare rituals as indulgent moments of self care, creating a bridge between skincare rituals and emotional well-being.

Plenaire's award winning, multi-faceted formulations like Rose Jelly and Violet Paste are based on uncomplicated, clean ingredients, perfect for delicate and sensitive skin.

Christened “The white T-shirt of the beauty industry” : it's not fussy or frilly, but is super reliable and can be accessorized- by Byrdie Beauty, Plenaire is found alongside other independent brands, in some of the world’s finest beauty retailers.

Substantial accomplishments to date

Plenaire is a British made skincare brand with an audience of digitally native, highly engaged skin care users, that have been vocal about supporting our mission. Our social media has grown to 9000 followers. This has been achieved organically via word of mouth, social media with limited marketing investment.

Plenaire products have had countless positive press reviews and recommendations, as well as over 250 reviews on the UK’s trusted review platform, Trustpilot.

Plenaire's hero product, Violet Paste was awarded GOLD at The Marie Claire Sustainable Beauty Awards 2020 in the Blemish product category. Plenaire Skin Frosting was awarded Most Hydrating Mask of 2020 by Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Plenaire is 100 percent recyclable, vegan, cruelty free and fully free of typical "controversial" ingredients.

Plenaire is certified carbon neutral via Climate Partner offsetting emissions to contribute to clean drinking water projects in Odisha, India. Plenaire is accredited by Provenance, a data company that audits and certifies all consumer-facing claims via blockchain technology.

Plenaire is on track to become a certified B corp by the end of 2021.

British talk show host Lorraine Kelly featured Plenaire in her summer 2020 essentials with celebrity Stylist Mark Heyes. British TV personality Stacy Solomon has recommended Plenaire in her book, "Tap to Tidy".

In 2021, skincare expert Caroline Hirons featured Plenaire Rose Jelly in her March edit of Favorites via skincare retailer Space NK. Plenaire has recently featured in the Skin Rocks Teen Box, alongside brands like Fenty Beauty, The Ordinary and Zitsticka.

Monetisation strategy

We generate revenue from customers purchasing our British made skincare via plenaire.co or our network of selective physical and online retailers. Plenaire's stocked in some of the world’s finest stores, ie Space NK (UK) and Credo Beauty (USA) with 40 boutiques stocking Plenaire at the close of Q1 2021. Upcoming launches include Detox Market, Poosh e-commerce, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom’s USA, Galeries Lafayette Paris and Hudson’s Bay, Canada.

Plenaire Violet Paste and Rose Jelly have become trusted beauty staples; having sold out of initial stock with the creation of the third batch of production in 2022.

All Plenaire products are created in house via independent formulators and then scaled up in accordance with strict standards at our contract manufacturer. Plenaire is intimately involved in managing the journey from lab brief to customer/end-user.

Recent growth has been accelerated through listings in several premium retailers; Plenaire future growth plans include launches in other geographies, website subscriptions, sampling and PR boxes, a holistic digital marketing plan includes influencer outreach, press and PR. Recently, Plenaire has just agreed on a partnership with one of the UK’s leading technology providers to scale the brand online via plenaire.co

Use of proceeds

Despite a global pandemic, we have achieved CAGR of 188% (YTD sales) for Plenaire since 2019*. Within the beauty community, we have seen a much stronger focus on diverse founders, mental health, well-being and beauty inclusivity.

Our ambition is to become a leading player in masstige skincare by pioneering innovative, multi-tasking products that continue to "cut through the beauty noise" and deliver superior value by combining cleaner ingredients, best in class technology and a deconstructed, transparent, sustainable supply chain.

Your investment will be used to support the brand's digital media, replenish the current product pipeline and support future product runway. In addition to our current line-up, we will be working closely with our highly engaged skincare community on NPD.

Plenaire have chosen to go the crowdfunding route in order to build an engaged, modern investor community that we know will build better traction for our brand, long term.

Valuation (pre-money)

Valuation rounded from £11,400,000

This is the fully-diluted pre-money valuation of the business (i.e. before the new investment comes in and including issued options and other equity interests). In contrast, the post-money valuation is based on inclusion of the new investment in the value.

It is calculated as the pre-money valuation plus the amount of new investment. e.g. If Company A is ascribed a pre-money valuation of £1,200,000 by prospective investors investing £300,000, its post-money valuation is £1,500,000.

Pitch type

There are 5 types of investment pitch available on Seedrs.

  • Equity
  • Convertible
  • Fund
  • Cohort
  • Secondary

Investing in a regular equity campaign is the simplest and most common way to invest in a startup. You decide which business you want to invest in, and if the campaign hits its funding target then you will become one of their shareholders. As the company becomes more valuable, so do your shares; allowing you the opportunity to share in the future success of the business.

Learn more about pitch type on Seedrs

Equity Offered

The equity offered is the percentage of the company’s shares being issued in return for the amount of investment raised.

When the amount raised is less than 100%, the equity offered is based on the target raise. Once the company has raised over 100% it is based on the total raised.

In some scenarios, entrepreneurs may accept additional direct investment after closing their Seedrs campaign. Provided this is within 6 months of the closing and on the same terms, we do not typically offer pre-emption rights on that extra investment (where you have the opportunity to invest again to maintain your percentage shareholding).

Seedrs nominee

This shows if you are able to choose, when making an investment, that you be represented by, and your shareholding be managed by, the Seedrs nominee.

Custodian

If you invest in this Campaign, Seedrs will act as Custodian rather than provide our standard nominee service. This is due to the fact that the business is not directly involved in the share sale and Seedrs will not benefit from any rights under a shareholder agreement. As a result, Seedrs will handle administrative tasks as we do normally, but you will not have information or voting rights, updates from the business, preemption on future fundraising, or ongoing support about business trading activity.

Secondary market

This shows if the business has opted-in or opted-out of allowing its shares to be bought and sold on the secondary market.

Direct investment

This is an option to invest and hold shares 'directly' in the company (rather than via the Seedrs Nominee). This option is only available to those investing over the threshold amount, which is determined by the fundraising company.

If you choose to hold your shares directly, you will be responsible for any contractual or administrative arrangements with the company you are investing in.
