Stem + Glory's innovative yet accessible plant-based cuisine is paving the way for today's societies for healthier and more conscious ways of living.
Rapid growth since Stem + Glory's inception has been backed up by one of the fastest restaurant Crowdfunds in history, winning multiple awards, great reviews, and more recently, in Feb 2020, founder Louise pitched Stem + Glory at 'Launchbox' (most investable restaurant concept) at the Global Restaurant Investment Forum, and won.
Stem + Glory have now embraced the opportunity to pivot their business model to be leaner, more streamlined, and more profitable as they enter the post Covid world. A new online store selling ready meals, vegan grocery items, recipe kits and experience boxes to an 8 mile radius around each site will back up hot meal delivery and in store dining. In store dining is to an exclusive number of covers, on a higher rotation, which together with new technologies mean more efficient staffing levels can be maintained.
This flexibility allows Stem + Glory to emphasise growth potential for both sides of the business as they emerge into the post Covid world, and the ability to flex staff and resources between the two.
An exciting design and branding of the Stem + Glory product range, packaging and online store are underway, as well as the technical build of online platform and app.
At the helm of the new business model is Stem + Glory founder Louise Palmer-Masterton. She is a serial entrepreneur who successfully negotiated her first exit last year. She has a 30-year track record in business, including several online stores and a digital media company.
The online store capability and its planned expansion into a wider marketplace uniquely positions Stem + Glory to be at the forefront of both plant based food, and technologies to support the growth of the movement.
The backdrop to Stem + Glory's success has been the exponential rise in the plant based movement. With established sites in Cambridge and London, Stem + Glory are now expanding, and also extending their on premises model to reach existing and new customers via a sophisticated online platform with short window delivery times 8 miles around each store. Innovative Stem + Glory products are also in development, including 100% plant-based cheeses, signature fermented foods, and ready meals.
Stem + Glory have a robust restaurant model, developed at the London flagship, which hit all its targets in its first year. Pre Covid-19 the London flagship saw 131% YOY growth, and 11.3% EBITDA (Jan 2020).*
With an ambitious and expert in house team already in place, Stem + Glory have taken advantage of the Covid-19 closure, developing new revenue streams and forging new partnerships with:
Afrodidti Krassa (design & branding), Tastehead foods (product development) and 5Loyalty (app & tech development).
The online and delivery platform, with its state of the art technology, supports the existing restaurant model, and will provide additional revenues for existing and future sites, and supports the gradual reopening of the restaurants post Covid-19.
For 2021, a new deal has been struck for a second premium London site, and also on the cards is a relocation to Cambridge's travel and business hub.
Stem + Glory also have the opportunity to pilot a delivery only model in strategic UK cities in 2020.
