Idea
Introduction
Founders Charlotte & Sean created Super U following Charlotte’s health struggles with Coeliac Disease. Superfoods made a huge impact on not just her life, but Sean’s too.
They felt the market was missing an accessible and convenient format for Superfoods, that could easily be incorporated into your daily routine. Leading them to create their own range of Organic Superfood Blends in 2017.
With the help of Nutritionists and Doctors in Functional Medicine, Super U now has a range of 8 superfood blends to help support immunity, digestion, skin health and more.
From super-greens, berries, functional mushrooms, adaptogens and plant-proteins, each blend consists of a number of organic superfoods - with no added sweeteners, flavourings or fillers.
With a D2C focus, the brand is working to educate and provide value to their customers on a daily basis, helping to encourage more people to live healthier and happier with Superfoods!
Substantial accomplishments to date
Growth Since Our Last Seedrs Round (November 2019 - October 2020):
We grew turnover to over £490,000 in 2020, a 237% increase from our previous year.
We were also proudly awarded as Health & Well-being Entrepreneurs of the Year for the North East of England.
So Far This Year (2020-2021):
Founders Charlotte & Sean have recently appeared on BBC One's Dragons' Den, where they received offers off all 5 Dragons for exactly what they pitched for, something that very rarely happens in the Den.
Peter Jones described them as 'Two Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs'.
Ahead of Dragons' Den, our turnover for the year was approximately £311k (November to March). With March showing a returning customer rate of nearly 50%.
On the day of Dragons' Den, we saw website sales surpass £100k and Amazon reach £60k, with over 4k orders in total. Our total turnover for April will now reach almost £500k.
We have also been featured in a number of press outlets, including Forbes.
As well as growing our online channels, we are also listed with Whole Foods Market, Selfridges and John Bell & Croyden.
To date, we've now planted over 16,000 trees with our non-profit partner, One Tree Planted. With every order we donate $1 to plant 1 tree! So far we've planted trees all over the world, from North and South America to Africa, Asia and Australia.
Monetisation strategy
This year we intend to focus growing our D2C channel and to further expand our Retail presence.
· D2C - sell directly to our customers in the UK, Europe and US through our website, in order to reach customers all over the world and build a trusted & loved superfood brand. We intend to focus heavily on our subscription model, which now generates almost £30k in monthly recurring revenue (750 active subscribers).
· Amazon - continue to build our presence on Amazon UK, Amazon DE and expand onto Amazon US.
· Retail - continue working with our UK retailers and supporting listings. We also intend to expand our retail presence further and secure some larger key accounts moving into 2022.

We are looking to build and expand our team in order to support our growth. We plan to hire in the following areas: Business Development, Marketing and Supply Chain & Logistics.

Key Information
The company has a £50,000 Bounce Back loan taken out in May 2020 over a 72 month period with first repayment due 13 months after receipt of funds. The first 12 months are interest free, and accrue 2.5% interest after that.
The funds raised from this investment round will not be used to repay these loans.
