Introduction

Tendril is a (mostly) vegan restaurant and bar on a mission to showcase what’s possible with plant-first food.

We’ve amassed a loyal following through various pop-ups, residencies and supper clubs culminating in our longest, 39 week residency at The Sun & 13 Cantons in Soho, central London. We’ve served over 11,000 guests and received heart-warming praise from both customers and national media alike.

As we look to the future, we’re inviting you to become a part of the business – helping us on our way to growing a group of independently-spirited restaurants.

Plant-first, not Plant-based

Tendril is so much more than just another vegan restaurant. Positioning ourselves as a “plant-first” restaurant, we aim to set ourselves apart from the growing number of plant-based restaurants and food products that offer highly processed, unhealthy “fake meat” and junk or comfort food.

Unless we say so, most of our dishes are vegan and the rest vegetarian. Working with the seasons and sourcing quality produce, we cook with flair, care and just the right level of technique to satisfy even the most omnivorous guest.

A (Mostly) Vegan Kitchen needs a (Mostly) Vegan Bar

We’ll be extending our ethos from our kitchen to the bar: developing a concise list of cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, served alongside low-intervention, vegan wines made by small producers.

In Safe Hands

Founder and award-winning chef Rishim Sachdeva is supported by a loyal and committed team and a number of external consultants.

Together, we believe we've got the experience and passion to cover all bases when it comes to running and growing a successful restaurant company.

Substantial accomplishments to date

1. We’ve worked hard to develop an elevated yet relaxed dining brand, on a mission to showcase what’s possible with plant-first food.

2. We're carving out our own niche amongst independent London restaurants, focusing as much on exceeding the expectations of discerning, planet-conscious omnivores, as giving vegans and vegetarians enough reasons to love us and brag about us amongst non-vegan friends/family.

3. We’ve established a multi-channel operation that includes gift vouchers, delivery, and meal boxes.

4. We’re a high-margin business. We have seen that the market is happy to pay meat-based dish prices for plant-first food.

5. We believe we’re at the intersection of the plant-first movement, sustainability and regenerative agriculture, and have a growing desire to champion local produce and independent businesses.

6. We’re a pandemic success story. Surviving through lockdown by pivoting from supper clubs and pop-ups to home delivery and meal kits, where we were best-sellers in all categories with Big Night nationwide.

7. We've hosted some famous faces too: Maisie Williams, Lily Collins, Simon Amstell, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team.

Monetisation strategy

We’ve established a multi-channel operation that includes gift vouchers, delivery, and meal boxes.

We now have our sights on a 50-60 cover restaurant in London and are currently in the process of acquiring the lease. This will allow us to expand our food offer, build our bar programme and be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the week to sweat the asset. With a few changes in our current offering – adding an extra snack and pre-dessert – we could look at an average breakfast spend of £14 per person, lunch at £24 per person and dinner at £39 per person.

We will continue to offer gift vouchers and meal kits, too. Both have been part of previous sales strategies and contributed to our revenue during our residency at The Sun and 13 Cantons, Soho.

Use of proceeds

We are seeking an investment of £150,000, alongside a cash injection by way of a director’s loan at 0% interest.

These funds will be used to lease, fit-out, and launch our first permanent site. An overfund of £50,000 would put the business in a comfortable place to really take our marketing and reach to the next level.

We are offering equity in Tendril’s first and future home, plus a number of benefits and perks. Go to the Investor Perks tab to find out!

Warm regards & high fives

Valuation (pre-money)

Valuation rounded from £800,300

This is the fully-diluted pre-money valuation of the business (i.e. before the new investment comes in and including issued options and other equity interests). In contrast, the post-money valuation is based on inclusion of the new investment in the value.

It is calculated as the pre-money valuation plus the amount of new investment. e.g. If Company A is ascribed a pre-money valuation of £1,200,000 by prospective investors investing £300,000, its post-money valuation is £1,500,000.

Pitch type

There are 5 types of investment pitch available on Seedrs.

  • Equity
  • Convertible
  • Fund
  • Cohort
  • Secondary

Investing in a regular equity campaign is the simplest and most common way to invest in a startup. You decide which business you want to invest in, and if the campaign hits its funding target then you will become one of their shareholders. As the company becomes more valuable, so do your shares; allowing you the opportunity to share in the future success of the business.

Equity Offered

The equity offered is the percentage of the company’s shares being issued in return for the amount of investment raised.

When the amount raised is less than 100%, the equity offered is based on the target raise. Once the company has raised over 100% it is based on the total raised.

In some scenarios, entrepreneurs may accept additional direct investment after closing their Seedrs campaign. Provided this is within 6 months of the closing and on the same terms, we do not typically offer pre-emption rights on that extra investment (where you have the opportunity to invest again to maintain your percentage shareholding).

Seedrs nominee

This shows if you are able to choose, when making an investment, that you be represented by, and your shareholding be managed by, the Seedrs nominee.

Custodian

If you invest in this Campaign, Seedrs will act as Custodian rather than provide our standard nominee service. This is due to the fact that the business is not directly involved in the share sale and Seedrs will not benefit from any rights under a shareholder agreement. As a result, Seedrs will handle administrative tasks as we do normally, but you will not have information or voting rights, updates from the business, preemption on future fundraising, or ongoing support about business trading activity.

Secondary market

This shows if the business has opted-in or opted-out of allowing its shares to be bought and sold on the secondary market.

Direct investment

This is an option to invest and hold shares 'directly' in the company (rather than via the Seedrs Nominee). This option is only available to those investing over the threshold amount, which is determined by the fundraising company.

If you choose to hold your shares directly, you will be responsible for any contractual or administrative arrangements with the company you are investing in.

Business Involvement

This Campaign offers shares for sale in business that is not directly involved in this Campaign or the sale. As a result, the Campaign and post-investment experience, including investor rights, will differ from a business-led campaign on Seedrs.
